The various options below give a general guide to the design services we offer.

1. Existing layout

Some bathrooms are basically exact swap-overs of what already existed. Some small improvements can be made, but these types of installations are normally governed by the waste pipe locations. They tend to be on bathrooms which are technically functional, but may have an outdated appearance, or are at the stage where they are leaking and falling apart.

What we normally do in these cases is start by creating a basic replica of the plan, setting out any small changes, so there is no confusion between the tradesmen and customers upon installation. This basic plan can also be used to make a ‘products required’ list for purchasing. Customers often make their own choices with regards to the colour schemes and style of the taps and other products that are re-installed, but these product choices can be made by us if the customer is unsure of what they want, or doesn’t have time to go through the many showrooms and catalogues available.

2. Revised layout

The next design option is generally for when the room can be altered. This is when the existing layout is poorly designed and the customer would like to address the problematic areas and find possible solutions. These types of rooms often involve taking space from adjoining rooms, for instance, by knocking outdated, separate toilets and bathrooms into one. Or, it can entail simply moving the locations of the bath or toilet for better use of the space. This process may need a handful of different designs done on the CAD computer program, and sometimes a couple of meetings with the customer to go through their vision and the adjustments they would like made. As with all designs, we can do as much or as little as necessary with regards to choosing the products, depending on individual requirements.

3. Design from scratch

These are the jobs that entail stripping a building back to its bare shell, or adding a bathroom or toilet to an area of the house where there currently isn’t one. By considering design options along with technical aspects (such as finding existing drainage points, or finding and planning where the required water and electrical feeds are), we can devise a complete solution.

Initial visits may need follow-up visits by the required specialists, if such technical locations are unclear on the first inspection. As with all installations, the level of product-choice is down to each customer. Some people just want to know the locations and sizes required before taking care of the interior design side of things themselves, others like to have a dual-design process, where they consult back as we work through the supply side of the project. Some people like to just hand the whole process over. We are happy to accommodate any of the above.

When considering the initial design stage it is always helpful to have a starting budget for the job. It is easy to make excessive choices and end up with a beautiful design that is nowhere near the required budget. We would always encourage having open discussions during the design process regarding the cost implications of each section, to avoid over or under specifying a job. Often, we find that people are unclear as to what a typical costing would be and most jobs involve multiple adjustments to the design and price until a happy medium is achieved.

In our design process, we will normally charge for the more time-consuming designs or ask for a design payment up-front, which is then deducted from the total cost of the installation. Initial visits for recommendations are free within the Bristol area.

There are 2 different levels of CAD design to choose from.

Option 1: Basic CAD
The pictures below these give a basic layout and come with a 2D scale plan.

Option 2: Specialist CAD
We can also outsource a plan to a Specialist CAD technician, who can create immaculate photo-quality images. Along with this higher image quality, they can also input specific products, tile textures and other finer details. This comes at a higher price and would need to be quoted individually for each unique project.

We find that option 1 is sufficient for the general layout and needs of most customers, but we are always happy to go with the needs of each specific job.
